Worship
Our weekly service is on Sundays at 10:00 AM and typically lasts about an hour. Worship at First Christian Church is rooted in community and shaped by tradition and imagination. You can expect a meaningful blend of music, scripture, prayer, a children’s message, sermon, giving, and weekly communion. Music is a vital part of our worship life. With thoughtful attention to theology and theme, we sing everything from hymns and spirituals to jazz and contemporary worship songs—led by a mix of voices and instruments. Song lyrics are projected on screen, and hymnals are available if you prefer to follow the printed music. We share communion each week. There are no requirements - all are welcome to participate. Worship is also be available on our YouTube channel at 10:00AM each Sunday and continues to be available beyond. We welcome you to worship with us in either or both ways!
Children
Children of all ages are welcome in worship! We celebrate their presence and encourage families to participate in whatever way works best for them. A children’s area at the front of the sanctuary offers rugs, books, worship supplies, and quiet activities to help young worshippers engage in the service. Seating nearby allows caregivers to stay close while fully participating in worship. Activity bags are also available for children who would like to bring worship-friendly items back to their seats. For families who prefer it, nursery care is available during worship for children ages 0–5, with accommodations for older children who may need additional support. Children and youth are an important part of our worshiping community and are often invited to serve in leadership roles throughout the service. Whether your child stays with you in worship or joins us in the nursery, we’re glad you’re here and look forward to worshiping together.
Accessibility
We are committed to making our church welcoming and accessible to all. Below are some of the ways you will find access within our space. If there are additional ways we can improve accessibility in our building or worship services, we would love to hear from you. Please speak with a staff member, we are eager to help!
Parking & Entrances Designated accessible parking spaces are available near the front and side entrances for easy access. Both entrances have automatic doors, and the building and parking lot can be navigated without using any steps. We also offer free valet parking on Sunday mornings - pull up to the front door via the circle drive to access this service. Inside the Building An elevator connects the upper and lower levels, so the building can be navigated without any steps. Accessible stalls are available in restrooms on both the upper and lower levels. Sanctuary Our sanctuary aisles are spaced to accommodate wheelchairs. Our seating consists of individual chairs, with several options for those using mobility devices. The chairs can also quickly be adjusted so those using mobility devices can sit comfortably in a location of choice. At the front of the sanctuary, we have a ramp leading up to the chancel, so all can access this raised area, where some worship leadership happens. Hearing Assistance Audio amplifiers are available for those who need hearing support. Please ask a greeter or visit the sound booth for a device. Communion The congregation is invited to come forward for communion, while a server brings communion to those who prefer or need to remain seated. We serve gluten-free bread and 100% grape juice for communion so those with gluten allergies are able to partake. An ingredient list is available upon request.
Parking
Parking at First Christian is available in both our upper and lower lots. Designated accessible spaces (including van accessible) are available in both lots. For added convenience, a circle drive at the front entrance allows passengers to be dropped off before you park. We also offer a free valet service —simply pull into the circle drive and up to the front door, and our valet team will take care of parking your vehicle before service and will bring it to the front door after service concludes. We strive to make your arrival as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or need assistance, please let us know!
Communion
An important part of our tradition is sharing communion each week. Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you are a longtime member, a first-time visitor, a child, or simply exploring faith. There are no membership requirements, age restrictions, or creeds you must affirm to receive Communion. At the same time, participation is always optional, and each person is invited to take part as they feel comfortable. During communion, those who wish to receive the elements are invited to come forward. For anyone who prefers or needs to remain seated, a server will bring communion to them. We serve gluten-free bread and 100% grape juice so that those with gluten sensitivities or allergies can fully participate. An ingredient list is available upon request.
What to Wear
At First Christian, you’ll find a beautiful variety of people, perspectives, and styles. Whether you arrive in shorts and a t-shirt or your Sunday best, every color, every style and every expression of yourself is welcome here. Come as you are, wear what makes you comfortable, and know that you belong!
Fellowship
After worship each week, you're invited to stay for cookies, coffee, and conversation. Whether you're catching up with friends or visiting for the first time, this is a relaxed and welcoming space to connect, ask questions, and get to know our pastors and congregation.
Faith Formation
During the school year, we offer Faith Formation for all ages from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM. Through conversation, creativity, prayer practices, service, and learning, we explore what it means to follow Jesus in today's world. Some opportunities are tailored to different age groups, while others invite all generations to journey together.
